Obama met with congressional Republicans today to basically plead with them to stop being partisan assholes over his $825 billion stimulus plan, which they feel has insufficient tax cuts and excessive spending.
“The statistics every day underscore the urgency of the economic situation. The American people expect action. I don’t expect 100 percent agreement from my Republican colleagues, but I do hope that we can all put politics aside and do the American people’s business right now,” Obama told them.
The House votes on Wednesday, and Senate committees began their own deliberations over it on Tuesday. The hope is to get this thing passed by mid-February, before the shit really hits the fan and we are all huddling around trashcan bonfires fighting over scraps of bread.
Obama’s been pretty open to comprimise, so hopefully Republicans will follow suit. Yesterday, Bam appealed to House Democrats to cut out $200 million from the plan, which was ticketed for family planning services for low-income people.

That’s total Bullshit. Let the Republicans deny the bill and face the public, but don’t sell out the lower classes. I’m already losing faith in “our” idealism.
